CALL FOR GUITARISTS NEW MUSIC FOR THE GUITAR General Information The 1st Call For Guitarists: New Music For The Guitar gives an opportunity for musicians to work with a Grammy-nominated composer. The Award recipient(s) will receive an original piece of music, 8-10 minutes in duration, written exclusively for them by composer, pianist and singer Clarice Assad. The winning soloist or group will have the sole right to premiere and record the piece, and will work collaboratively with the composer on every aspect of the composition. The work will be published by Virtual Artists Collective, and will be recorded professionally. The recording will be released independently as an EP, which will contain other guitar works by the composer.

General Information

Eligibility
The competition is open for amateur and professional classical guitarists of all ages and nationalities, for the following combinations: Solo, duos, trios and quartets. Applicants may enter in more than one category. Example: A soloist may also apply as a duo, trio or quartet. Please note that each entry must be submitted separately.
Selection Process
All submissions are handled online. Applicants are asked to submit a completed application form and a link to one unedited video of a live performance or a performance taped by a video camera or webcam. Videos must be uploaded to Youtube or Vimeo and are limited to 10 minutes in duration. Applicants are encouraged to upload what they consider to be their strongest material. There are no restrictions to the choice of composers or repertoire.
A panel of four judges will review all submissions. The judging panel will base their choices on the following criteria: Artistic and stylistic interpretation, originality, emotional quality and engagement of performer with the work.

Notification
The Award recipient(s) will be notified via email no later than March 23rd, 2013.
